San Luis Obispo Madonna Inn Wedding

A Gatsby-themed Wedding

Jayson and I were honored to shoot the wedding of Alex & Chris at The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.  They were married on Pi day, which, of course, is 3.14 (plus a bunch of other numbers) (all of them), so they were married on March 14th at 3:14 in the afternoon. Ohhhh how we loved this wedding. It was a Gatsby theme and The Madonna Inn was the perfect setting for this–just the right amount of whimsical and weird (in a good way). The other upside is that Jayson and I now own a flapper dress and a zoot suit that can be worn at any moment. Look out, people of Vons!

Okay, time for some bling and utter gorgeousness…

“He looked at her the way every girl wanted to be looked at…”

The make-up. It. Was. Gorgeous. And honestly, I wanted to pack up the make-up artist and take her home with me so I could have this treatment every day. Would that be weird? Then there were the bridesmaids dresses…all black & gold and beaded and WOW. And Alex had a bouquet unlike any I’ve ever seen…no flowers, just a beautiful black & gold jeweled brooch bouquet. It was stunning.

Daisy Buchanan would have approved.

Take a look at this slideshow of Alex and her bridesmaids being FABULOUS. Jayson had never taken a shot of a bride sprawled out on a bed. But I told him with THIS dress in THIS room with THAT bouquet…WE ARE SPRAWLING!

The gentlemen looked quite dapper. There was a “Bow-Tie Incident” but we shall never speak of that again, except to say thank goodness for google and wifi reception. Chris spent the morning surfing in Morro Bay. Then he calmly put on his three-piece suit and married the girl of his dreams…

“I fell in love with her courage, her sincerity, and her flaming self respect. And it’s these things I’d believe in, even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn’t all she should be. I love her and it is the beginning of everything.”

The Ceremonyhands

They met as students at Cal Poly. A job separated them but it made their bond stronger and they eventually landed back here together. You can tell just by the way they look at each other that this is a deep relationship. So much love in the room…

“Well, there I was, way off my ambitions, getting deeper in love every minute, and all of a sudden I didn’t care. ”

Ain’t No Party Like a Gatsby Party

They danced and danced like true flappers and fly-guys. And since this was a Pi Day wedding, there was plenty of pie for dessert. Also on hand was a beautiful cake for those who were pie-intolerant. Personally, Jayson and I were tolerant of IT ALL.

Congrats, Alex & Chris!
Wishing you the best for years to come…
